Bowel Prep Instructions

Preparing for Your Colonoscopy

Please review these instructions at least 7 days prior to your procedure. Unless otherwise instructed by our providers or staff, please follow the bowel prep instructions provided below when preparing for your colonoscopy and NOT the instructions that came with your prescription.

Medications: When scheduling your procedure, please inform us if you're taking any blood thinners such as Plavix (clopidogrel), Pradaxa (dabigatran), Coumadin (warfarin), Xarelto (rivaroxaban), Eliquis (apixaban), Effient (prasugrel), or Lovenox. Your doctor may ask you to hold your blood thinners for the procedure, sometimes up to 7 days prior to your procedure. If you're on aspirin, you should continue to take it unless otherwise instructed.

Day of Procedure: On the day of your procedure, bring a list of all medications that you take, including any over-the-counter medications. Also, be sure to bring a driver with you who can take you home after your procedure because self-driving is not recommended after sedation.

If you have any questions about your procedure, about the bowel preparation instructions, or if you need to reschedule your appointment, please call our office at 833.GI.HEALTH or send us a message from the gGastro Patient Portal. If you need to reschedule, please notify us at least 3 days prior your scheduled procedure date.
